Hi and welcome to pastordom.com!
I was trying to think of a catchy name for this site and well, this is what I came up with. Despite the name however this site is not dedicated to shameless self-promotion but to the Lord and the study of His word.
When I first became a Christian, I had an immediate hunger for God’s word. When I finally found a home church I was delighted to find that my pastor had recorded all of his teachings and they were available on cassette. (Cassettes were an ancient form of recording used in the 20th Century.) His style was expository and he had started in Genesis and taught straight through Revelation, and when he finished… you guessed it, he started all over again.
As of now he’s on his fourth time through. I spent the first five or so years of my walk with the Lord listening to his expository teaching, verse by verse, two and three tapes a day. Not that I intended to be a pastor mind you, I was just enjoying the wonderful truths in His word and the fellowship in the Spirit. In those first five years I must have bought and broke twenty walkmans! (A walkman was a player for cassettes; think of an iPod the size of a book.)
Later when I became a pastor a thought occurred to me of the Lord: “What would I do if someone like me came into my church?” It is with that thought in mind that this site was conceived. I joke about old technology but isn’t it amazing that we live in an age where anyone could record anything and it could be available online indefinitely without any reduction in sound quality?
Also I am a first generation Christian and wanted to preserve for my posterity the history of our church (and my life and family to some extent.)
